History

Built in 1980, the ‘Shenandoah’ was designed to be the residence of famous Swedish writer, photographer, film producer and animal lover Jan Lindblad in the Hanthana Mountain range of Kandy, Sri Lanka.

Owned by the Congreve family since 1989, the bungalow first acted as their honored home with Horse stables and lush greenery surrounding the property. After embarking on a homestay program in 2013, the family converted the complex and embarked on an experimental guesthouse period. Acquiring first-hand experience in the hospitality trade over the years, the family graduated to niche tourism, transforming Shenandoah into a haven of hotels.
